XSEED Games recently announced that it will be bringing SIEG Games’ emotion-based, time-traveling AI RPG Loop8: Summer of Gods to Switch in 2023! This beautiful game could be another coming-of-age story set in a Japanese school, but it has an all-star development team and a strong focus on building relationships and preventing the end of the world. in only a month!
Working as senior producer on the game, Yoichi Miyaji – known for producing Lunar: the silver star and executive producer on the Grandia – is just one of the most notable names working on the game. Noriyuki Iwadare (composer of Lunar and ace lawyer series), game producer Yuri Shibamura (creator of Elemental Gearbolt and March of the Gun Parade), character designers Shingo Adachi (Sword Art Online) and En Morikura (VTuber artist for Kizuna AI). Concept art is by Kitsuneiro (designer of Amatsu Kitsune), with mascot character designs by Ryudai Murayama (Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin).
Set in the rural town of Ashihara circa 1983, Loop8 sees you following Nini and her class struggle against demonic entities known as Kegai. But Nini and her friends are no ordinary humans. Instead, they were raised on a broken down space station, and Ashihara is one of the only surviving shrines on Earth. These “demons” have pushed humanity to the brink of extinction, and Nini and her friends will have to use their special bond with the gods to defeat them.
Sounds pretty interesting, right? We got a taste of the English voice acting in the trailer above, but why not get more in-game details from XSEED below:
Choices that can change the world – Loop8The emotion-based AI system responds to every action and decision made by players. Character emotions and stories will vary greatly based on player choices, making each playthrough completely unique.
A beautiful seaside town full of mystery – A nostalgic and beautifully recreated snapshot of rural Japan around 1983, Ashihara is home to a colorful cast of characters, each harboring their own secrets to uncover. Will the players’ choices make them trusted allies…or mortal enemies?
Live an ordinary life, fight extraordinary enemies – Bond with the people of Ashihara while protecting the city from the ever-present threat of the Kegai, repeating the cycle to discover how daily actions impact battles in the underworld, and vice versa.
Relive the past to change the future – Although the deadline for the extinction of humanity is getting closer and closer, the fate of Ashihara remains in your hands. Return several times to the beginning of August, change your actions and see how they reverse the course of fate through several endings.
So, despite looking like a quant and comfortable anime, Loop8 is anything but. The warm and colorful town of Ashihara may be where friendships flourish, but with humanity at stake, you’ll have to spend your time wisely. But don’t forget those Kegai either.
