It goes without saying that as an assistant beauty editor at Cosmopolitan UK, I have the good fortune to try a lot of care products.
But what are my favorite formulas, the ones that have earned a solid place in my bathroom? And what are the care steps that I never miss? Here’s a look at my week and how I take care of my skin along the way…
Monday
8:30 a.m.: After brushing my teeth, I scan my bathroom shelf – unfortunately it’s not the same color as you see it on Instagram. Instead, it’s packed with skincare that I’ve tried throughout my job. I start with Simple’s Refreshing Face Wash, followed by Caudalie’s Vinoperfect Instant Brightening Moisturizer and my trusty La Roche Posay Anthelios Ultra-Light Invisible Fluid SPF 50, then get to work.
6 p.m.: After logging out, I change into my training gear. I arrive at the gym, I do a weight training session and I wonder why people throw them on the floor so hard.
8 p.m.: Home time! I take off my sweaty gym clothes and cleanse my sweaty face with Wishful’s Clean Genie Cleansing Balm and the Byoma Jelly Cleanser. I use a Medik8 retinol and follow up with Caudalie moisturizer to make sure my skin stays hydrated.
Tuesday
8:30 a.m.: Today I need to test some products for our Cosmo Beauty Awards. I massage on a new milky (and embargoed) cleanser and follow it up with Simple’s Vitamin C+E+F Booster Serum. I then overlay a new secret FPS to see how well it holds up under makeup.
3:30 p.m.: I need to test out a face mask that hasn’t been released yet, so I’m using Simple’s Refreshing Face Wash to wipe the slate clean. I apply the mask with a brush and let it act while answering emails.
8 p.m.: I come back from a Pilates class and I take the Clean Genie Cleansing Balm and Fresh’s Soy Face Cleanser for double cleansing.
Wednesday
7am: It’s an office day. My skin is a little dull, probably from lack of sleep. I lather a dollop of Simple’s Refreshing Face Wash onto my hands and massage it into my skin.
I apply Honest Beauty’s Prime + Perfect mask and leave it on while I curl my hair, followed by Simple’s vitamin C+E+F booster serum, my Caudalie moisturizer and La-Roche Posay SPF. As a result, my skin looks much healthier.
8 p.m.: I remove my makeup with Clinique’s Take The Day Off Balm, followed by a gel cleanser to keep my skin from feeling stripped.
Thursday
7:30 a.m.: WHOOPS, I dozed off – so I need products that will be quick and effective. I pass a reusable cotton soaked in Bioderma Micellar Water around my face, then I apply the SPF Ultra Violette Supreme Screen Hydrating SPF which penetrates quickly and without white cast.
I add a few drops of MAC Face and Body to my Simple Hydrating Light Moisturizer for a pure dose of color, sprinkle it around my face and blend it with my fingers.
8:30 p.m.: Home, and ready to shower the city with my face. I do a double cleanse, using Clinique’s Take The Day Off Balm to break down my makeup and SPF, then I use Simple’s Refreshing Face Wash. I have never.
Friday
8:30 a.m.: There’s nothing like a WFH Friday after a manic week. I cleanse with Simple’s Refreshing Facial Cleanser, use my (much-needed) Byoma Brightening Serum, hydrate with Caudalie’s Vinoperfect Instant Brightening Moisturizer and, of course, finish with my La Roche Posay Anthelios Ultra-Light Invisible Fluid SPF 50.
5:30 p.m.: The weekend has arrived. I close my laptop and dive into my makeup bag, applying a full face for an evening of dinner and drinks.
12 p.m.: No matter how much espresso martinis I consume, I *can’t* go to bed without cleaning myself up. I hold a reusable cotton ball soaked in Simple Micellar Cleansing Water over each eye for 30 seconds to break down my mascara and eyeliner. Then, I blend it all in with my Clinique Take The Day Off Balm and Byoma Jelly Cleanser.
Saturday
10:30 a.m.: I roll out of bed and look at myself in the mirror, feeling smug about remembering to remove my makeup, though my skin feels a little tight. I hydrate with the Byoma Jelly Cleanser and apply the Beauty Pie Deep Moisture Miracle Cream.
11:30 p.m.: It hasn’t been the most productive day, alternating between chilling on the couch and cleaning up old clothes. For an easy fix, I sweep a pad of Simple Micellar Water around my face, then repeat the morning combination of Byoma Jelly Cleanser and Beauty Pie Deep Moisture Miracle Cream. After a quick TikTok scroll, the lights go out.
Sunday
9:30 a.m.: To make up for last night’s lack of routine, I use Simple’s Refreshing Face Wash and apply Wishful’s Yo Glow Scrub to get rid of dull, dead skin. I apply a thin layer of Jet Lag mask from Summer Friday and I crack as the day goes on.
6 p.m.: time for my big shower – a body scrub with Fresh’s Brown Sugar body scrub, a Philip Kingsley Elasticizer hair mask and maybe a shave, if I can be bothered.
Once I’m out, I wash my face twice and sweep Simple’s soothing toner around my face. I avoid acids as I used a scrub earlier and instead apply a thin layer of Jet Lag Summer Fridays mask.
10 p.m.: I manage to go to bed at a decent hour, determined to start the week on a good note. We’ll see if I end up dozing off in the morning, though…
Try Simple Kind To Skin face washes as part of your skincare regimen and enjoy healthy, smooth, soft skin after every wash.
