Georgia Tech hosts international football game with Bobby Dodd

Be prepared for heavy foot and road traffic around campus on Sunday, September 25.

The Bobby Dodd Stadium will host CD Chivas de Guadalajara and Club América, in their Súper Clásico series. This rivalry game has been going on since 1943 and is recognized as one of the best international clashes.

The Georgia Tech campus will be buzzing with football fans this weekend. Two of Mexico’s top pro teams bring their rivalry to Atlanta this Sunday. The Bobby Dodd Stadium will host CD Chivas de Guadalajara and Club América, in their Super Classic series. This rivalry game has been around since 1943 and is recognized as one of the best international clashes. The fanbases of both teams are among the largest in the world.

Keep in mind that this special event may cause some congestion around campus, especially before and after the game. The opening kick is scheduled for around 4:30 p.m. Expect road closures and heavy foot and vehicle traffic before and after the game. Parking permit holders are asked to provide spaces for our guests similar to GT football games. Please note that visitor and special event parking revenue plays a critical role in reducing faculty, staff, and student permit rates.

To accommodate the TV trucks, please move your vehicles from the following lots on Friday before 6 p.m.:

Lower E44: directly behind Daniel Lab
Upper E44: behind Emerson (A. French) and Lyman Hall

E44 customers can park on the E52-Peters bridge on Friday. Gate access will be added to your BuzzCard or Carpool permit.

To note: This includes all spaces for service and government vehicles. Any vehicle remaining in the above areas after the deadline may be relocated at the owner’s expense. All no-parking areas and fire lanes must be clear at all times; vehicles in these areas will be moved at the owner’s expense.

Alternative parking

You can start parking in any of the areas listed below from From Friday September 23 at any time until Sunday September 25:
W06: Tech Parkway/Marietta Street (except Ivan Allen College/Habersham lot at 781 Marietta St.)
WR29: West Campus Housing Area
W31: IPST
E70: GTRI

You can park in the areas indicated below From Friday, September 23 after 5 p.m. to Sunday, September 25:

W10: CRC-Deck
W22: Dalney Bridge
W23: north bridge

Parking access for closed locations will be added to your BuzzCard or Carpool permit.

To note: The E81-Tech Square Bridge is not an alternate parking location. Normal after-hours/weekend access for individual and carpool annual permits is not permitted on game day. This does not include evening/weekend permit access to the E81-Tech Square bridge. Customers are responsible for paying posted hourly rates if a parking ticket is drawn upon entry.

Instructions for releasing towed vehicles

Visit drivereat.gatech.edu and pay all existing fines online. Once payment has been made, please call 404-385-7275 for instructions on recovering the impounded vehicle. Customers are responsible for payment of all prior fines, including any citations received on game day to release their vehicle.

Customers may return to their assigned parking areas one hour after the end of play. All vehicles must be returned to assigned areas by 8:00 a.m. on Monday, September 26. Vehicles that remain in alternate parking areas after this time are subject to a citation.

Match Day Transit Operations

Sunday, September 25, 2022
Grocery Shuttle – Will serve the Transit Hub, West Campus Housing, Graduate/Family Housing, and Gare de l’Atlantique on Sunday, September 25. It will not serve the east campus.
Midnight Rambler – It will operate at normal hours and service levels on Sunday, September 25.
Stingerette – It will operate at normal hours and service levels on Sunday, September 25.
