Nawel Aderghal, Head of Marketing at Food Fund International and Founder of The TRUENUDE, talks to us about her daily beauty routine.
Tell us about your morning routine.
I’m normally awake before my alarm clock around 8-8:30 am and snuggle up in bed for a few minutes. I hop in the shower and start my morning beauty routine. I try to stay off the phone (texting, emailing, and social media) for about an hour because I think self-care and time for myself is so important before I start a busy day. My next 45 minutes are spent prepping my skin. Without exception, I am three steps.
Step 1: I cleanse and I mean deep cleanse: I wash my skin morning and evening; it is very important for me to remove all oils from my face. I exfoliate at least three times a week. I use Pacifica Glow Baby Face Wash – the first step towards getting my radiant glow. I’m with an acid toner; my favorite is the COSRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner. I’m a big fan of Korean and Asian products that I’ve been using for a while, and I’m totally in love with them.
Step 2: Masks. I use Shiseido Vital Perfection Uplifting and Firming Express Eye Mask. The masks themselves adhere perfectly to the natural shape of the under eye area, working to minimize sagging skin for revitalized, healthy-looking results.
Step 3: I make sure to hydrate and protect my skin. I start by applying Sheer Physical Fusion UV Defense SPF 50 Skin-Ceuticals. Living in Dubai and being exposed to the sun, I realized that you really had to invest in a good SPF. Some days I really don’t wear makeup. I don’t like to wear it every day. If anything, I’ll wear a tinted moisturizer like Bali Body BB Cream, also with a little SPF and a little concealer.
And how does your evening routine differ?
My sleep schedule has fluctuated constantly over the past five years, so I make sure to deep cleanse and hydrate as much as possible to keep my skin healthy. The cleanser and toner are the same as during my morning routine. To help my retinoid work better, I apply it directly after cleansing before any other treatment serum or moisturizer. I use Kiehl’s Micro-Dose Anti-Aging Retinol Serum with Ceramides and Peptides. I will moisturize with SkinCeuticals Glycolic 10 Renew Overnight Cream to improve the overall appearance of my skin from time to time.
What are your favorite beauty products?
My essential skincare products are: Sheer Physical Fusion UV Defense SPF 50 SkinCeuticals, because I like to protect and hydrate my skin; Tarte Shape Tape Concealer is very, very good. I have never found a concealer as good as this. I don’t even wear foundation anymore because the concealer is so covering. I use Laneige Radian-C Brightening Treatment Essence to deal with pollution and hot weather. I like to keep my skin smooth and luminous; Gisou honey oil for my hair.
Are you a fan of masks?
I am addicted to face masks and hair masks. I like to keep my complexion and my skin firm as well as healthy hair. I usually apply masks on weekends. My favorite mask is the one from Clarins, the SOS Comfort Mask.
How would you describe your approach to makeup?
I hardly wear makeup and only for a few occasions. I like minimalist and light makeup. I prefer to use soft, rosy makeup, like BB cream and concealer with ingredients to help my skin look hydrated and glowing. I would say my skincare is more important than my makeup. What’s always in your makeup bag? My makeup bag is really small, most likely one should be able to find Laneige Lip Balm, Laneige Radian-C Brightening Treatment Essence and Tarte Concealer which I always apply after lunch to refresh my look.
Let’s talk perfume. What do you like right now?
I am in love with Les Sables Roses by Louis Vuitton. It feels effortless, sleek and stylish.
How do you choose your evening perfume?
It all depends on the company and the impression I would like to leave but I would easily opt for Good Girl Gone Bad by Kilian, a gorgeous peach floral scent.
Tell us about your hair routine.
I have been using Gisou products for some time – shampoo, conditioner, mask and oil serum. I love the hard work and dedication behind the brand. I visit my hairdresser once a month and get Hair Botox treatment to repair sun damage. I get my hair cut every three months. I make sure my hair is dry and loose before I sleep. I often do a monthly biotin cure to help my hair grow.
What is the most unusual object in your makeup bag?
Since moving to the area, I’ve been dyeing my eyebrows with henna. But recently I tried Refy’s Brown Sculpt to keep them in shape. I like to use it before a night out, I feel like it gives the finishing touch to my look.
